The Maison Latapie precedent study explores the architectural intricacies of the house, with a focus on tectonics, layering, and intersections. Through drawing representations, the study illustrates the simplicity of design elements, such as solid-void juxtaposition and layering of materials. Maison Latapie's open design is exemplified by its ground-floor doors, creating a continuous space from front to back. The precedent study employs layering in a deliberate literal sense by using cutting planes to convey these spatial relationships and, at the same highlight the translucent sheeting used in the solarium. By capturing the essence of control and see-through quality, the precedent study attempts to understand the house's architectural characteristics and their impact on inhabitants.
